In this article, I describe another situation where my son’s mother refuses to let me see my son. My son’s mother says that this is because she doesn’t want him going skiing.

These are the text messages that precede the incident. I had no reason to believe that taking my son skiing has ever made my son cry, as she describes that it has however, I would certainly consider that my son’s mother telling my son, to lie to his father and tell him that he doesn’t want to go skiing, when he in fact actually does, would certainly make him cry. It’s also well within the realm of possibility that not letting my son see me could also cause him to cry.

yesterday.

He doesn’t want to go
I’m not willing to put him at risk
You do things to him to spite me
That’s messed up and you don’t have a right to do that

There is not a substantial risk in taking him skiing today that justifies him not skiing. I am not trying to enjoy a day of skiing
with my son to spite his mother, and no one would think that I am. I have the right to take him skiing if I believe it is
appropriate.

Completely, if you aren’t going to make it possible for me to see him today because you don’t want him skiing, what you’re
doing is seriously harmful to myself and Jackson.

You don’t care what he wants

Angela I’m getting a police report for this today because you’re not allowing myself to take Jackson skiing.
While you preventing me from taking him skiing today is a serious issue, and will continue to be so regardless of what
follows what has already occurred today, would you be willing to drop him off of I weren’t going to take him skiing today?

You do what you think is best
I’m doing what I think is best
Thank you for taking Jackson into consideration

While it’s clearly reflected in the police report, that a Saturday visitation is not implied, the town, city, county, or even the state should have told my son’s mother, that she can’t tell me what I can and cannot do with my son while he is with me and, that she cannot withhold my son from me in an attempt to force me to corroborate her wishes. It’s fine if the police can’t enforce our verbal agreement; but it’s like a doctor saying that because he doesn’t know how to cure you in this exact moment, because of this he won’t treat you; It’s a pathetic excuse, and there’s clearly a serious problem here. She’s taking him from me, and without any court proceedings whatsoever, they’re letting her.

  1. Do not talk to this woman. The only thing you should be asking her is if he’s ready to be picked up. You are under no obligation to tell her what yours and his activities are going to be. Next time, be only concerned with time of pick up, don’t argue with her, don’t volunteer information. She is not your friend. Do not attempt to cooperate. Just arrange to pick up Jackson, drive him away, then ask him, when hes in a condition to make up his own mind, whether he wants to go skiing or not. Angela does not need to know anything other than when you will be there to pick him up.

  2. Well, according to the ‘Order of Custody and Parenting Time’: “… the Respondent-Father shall have parenting time… All such parenting time shall occur at either the home of the Respondent-Father or the home of the Petitioner-Mother”. So, unless you live there, you’ll need permission from your son’s primary physical guardian in order to take him to the slopes.
